ANATOLIA

SELF-FORGETFULNESS

March 21, 2002

Anatolia: Good evening, my name is Anatolia. I am very happy to have this occasion to speak with you tonight. And I appreciate Welmek's relinquishment of his instruction this evening. But to continue in the vein that he is pursuing with you, I wish to continue the topics of Happiness, and Service, and Heart Healing that have a particular out come, and that is one of Self-forgetfulness. What does this term indicate to you? Have you thought about this; have you considered the implications of this term? Please take a moment or so, and go into the stillness and ask for a fuller understanding of this term. And then when you are ready, I would be most interested to hear your responses.

Student: My thoughts on this are that, it seems to me that I can only forget my small self, my selfish self. But another part of me I can't forget in the sense that it's what I am and it's what place that I meet, a place that I can act from, has to be a form of self-awareness. And, so it seems, there are two levels of self. My small selfish self, and my greater self.

Anatolia: And the smaller self, as you describe it. What does this self do? How is it that you are in this self, in your daily life?

Student: Well, part of it is a form of programming based on survival and habits and desires that I think will make me happy or safe, or other personal concerns, but I don't think I trust all of those motivations.

Anatolia: And what is the other self engaged in more? How would you define how you move through your day in this greater sense of self-awareness?

Student: Well, I'd like to be able to say I have more experience with that than I have thus far, but I think it's when I tune into a sense of freedom and look beyond my usual petty concerns and more in-tune with the part of me that's more highly aware of the big picture, sort of. It's more faith and things like that.

Anatolia: Thank you. This evening, I will gather all of your comments and synthesize them and present a lesson.

Student: Anatolia, I have very similar or parallel feelings as C. I just consider my ego, what I'm aware of. It is the whole me that I'm aware of, and I understand the textbook to talk of a personality, a creation, a unique creation of God. And I think this is not exactly my waking conscious, which doesn't even go twenty-four hours without lapsing. I'm a very complex being of mind and spirit and body. I have no idea or even how I digest the food I do. So I kind of have this sense that my waking conscious self that I'm aware of, attending to all the little strands; necessarily, I have to be aware of all these things to survive. There are habits; there are things, good works, craftsmanship, good things. But I think my personality combined with my Thought Adjuster to make this indelible record, everything I experience. This is not old threads flying in the breeze; this is some kind of steel cable.

Last week when we were thinking of what caused us pain and suffering in our life and then what Michael could show us to get through that; I though of all the times that all the old losses I've had in my life. And yet through it all something growing. So a lot of this is just faith and trust that this personality is growing.

Anatolia: Thank you.

Student: I guess for me, self forgetfulness, the first word that came to mind was surrendering, letting go of thinking that I'm just a drop of water, but that I am part of a full ocean of water, of consciousness. That self-forgetfulness is, it's like it's trusting that there is a greater self that I am a part of. And surrendering my individual will, which is illusionary, towards the greater will, which is the will of our Father, and God. Service is also involved. I notice, when I'm absorbed in helping another person, I have no thought for myself. Or if I'm listening to some really uplifting, inspirational music, I become that music, I've no thought to myself. So, it's when I cease to be that droplet of water and see that I am immersed in the full ocean.

Anatolia: Thank you.

Student: Anatolia, I was brought up in the French Catholic tradition, and this came up quite a bit. And I think the meaning is less self-examination, of meekness, a light heart, accepting the world as a valley of a beginning. I think it has a huge element of humility, which is a feeling of spiritual smallness; the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, is the way we heard it. Like Jesus doing good as he passed by, that feeling of just casually, not taking yourself quite as importantly, yet being willing to tackle some fairly big things, taking the self element out of it. My daughter calls it putting the Thought Adjuster on automatic pilot. I guess that word surrendering is part of it, but I think for me the pleasure of being meek, light-hearted in the service and of the quality of being humble. Recognizing that we are spiritually small, but with a hunger tension still for Paradise perfection, with the big picture in light, but not taking ourselves as seriously. And it does feel good; it creates a sense of worship as well.

Anatolia: Thank you. Thank you all for your responses and for sharing those ideas within you that perhaps you have not yet actually voiced to yourself. Allow me one moment to summarize and prepare this lesson for you.

Do you recall your exercise of the previous week, of inviting Michael and the Mother Spirit into your heart and beginning to heal those areas of pain and resistance within you? This was an important undertaking that precedes the release of the animal nature, ego hold, or should I say strain within your mind and body that keeps you in a sense of self-protection. Protected selves guard what they do, how they reveal themselves so they will not be hurt. Is this not so? The protected self has built many layers of armor or resistance so that the difficulties of living on this challenging world and the pain inflicted by others cannot penetrate and affect you. But this also has the effect of keeping you in your state of self-induced rigid immobility, where you are so concerned and overburdened with the idea of not being hurt that it conditions every movement and thought that you have.

When you allow your heart to be healed, you have those places of rigid immobility within you softened. They become more flexible so that your posture and movement in the world becomes more fluid and expansive, and you find yourself more open and willing to reveal more of yourself into the world. As this unfolds within you, this softening of the heart, you find that you do not have to protect yourself from being hurt; you find that there is no need to guard your sense of who you are. You extend yourself more into relationships with others, even to the point of wanting to help another person overcome their own sense of self-woundedness or self-protection.

And you have been given lessons on the idea of service, to help other people experience this. And so in this growing sense of openness within you and the new strains and desires of service unfold, what happens to the posture of immobility? What happens to the sense of self-protection? It is no longer there. Well, where did it go? You see my friends, you forget about this, because it no longer affects you. This is the attitude of self-forgetfulness of which I speak tonight. And it comes in an ever-expansive unfolding and healing of your heart, as you no longer feel that you must protect yourself, and you find that everything you need to live successfully is given to you. Every act of faith is rewarded, and so what need is there within you of being in this posture of self-fullness?

I will pause and ask your comments or questions now.

Student: Anatolia, everything you say of this really rings true. I had a wonderful series of classes and relationships and it was called, appropriately, "higher alignment" in which they talked about being in a very rigid attempt to maintain a status quo. Our fear and our past hurts keep us in a kind of a status, a holding pattern, where are our more true nature is what they call pioneering, which is willing to take chances and risks. And the thing I noticed from these classes, it was the most wonderful thing I would like to share, and that is this forgetfulness of self, all of a sudden, put me in a world of people. I can't explain it any other way, all of a sudden; just everybody was in my life. And it was just like gaining the whole world. It was just wonderful!

Anatolia: The protected self keeps the world at bay so there is no chance or opportunity for it to be wounded. But the self that is open, and needs of the self are forgotten, allows the world to come in and says, "I am here, I am your friend, I am your brother or sister and I am here to share of myself with your, my joy, my beauty, my personality. Are you interested in knowing me? If you are, how can I help you? How can I show you how beautiful you are?" This is what you are finding, my friend. The self that is open and free is the one that can never have too many friends or too many opportunities to reveal the loving nature of your personality through the Father.

And this helps the other person to experience joy and beauty and goodness and truth and helps them see that this is their potential as well. Isolation does not breed social service and altruism. Only this sense of being less involved with what you are experiencing offers the increased capacity to be in relationships with others that is so soul satisfying. You are well on your way to leaning one of the greatest lessons of the universe. Friendships and service go hand-in-hand in understanding how the Father harmonizes His family into a unified group. That is not quite the word that I would like to use, because the idea of a family is one of such love, peace, and such sharing and camaraderie that you would never want to be without your family. You are at home in them.

Student: I feel like it's not always appreciated. Sometimes when I offer myself to be present with people, they, if they think I'm more aware and honest than they are sometimes they get defensive and leave me feeling like nobody wants to accept any help from me, sometimes. It seems like I have difficulty finding people to share with, so I'm more alone and even lonely sometimes. I'm not sure how to make them feel comfortable around me when that happens. They feel threatened by me, almost.

Anatolia: Our observation of the humans on this world reveals to us that the emotional nature is as tender as a very young child. Think about how easy it is to hurt the feelings of a three or four year old. Can you imagine this in your mind's eye now? (Student: Yes) And so being honest with an individual may be speaking the truth, but if the truth does hurt their feelings, then, would they be in a position to accept your help? (Student: Not likely to.) And so the question then becomes, "How do I offer my help to them that will not trample on their tender feelings?" And you as a more spiritually attuned individual now have the opportunity to relate to them at their level, which is the level of being of true service to an individual. You go to them and you help them where they are.

I would suggest this as an exercise to prepare yourself the next time you
wish to help an individual, to spend a moment in the stillness state and to see if you can connect with them at their level of emotional availability. See if you can sense where their areas of woundedness are, so that when you speak to them, you avoid those areas. If this is difficult for you to sense at first, then by all means invite the presence of Michael into your mind and say, "Father, this is your child and you know every place within this individual where they are feeling pain or neglect or hurt by those people who have damaged their spirit. And so I ask you to show me where those are, so I can avoid them and speak the words You would have me speak to be of service and to lift them, to help them overcome their feelings of pain."

In doing this, you never have to be concerned that you will trample on their feelings, for Michael will deftly guide you to those ways and areas within them that meet with what you say. Does this help?

Student: Yes, very much. I've been realizing that I have part of my nature that enjoys putting a little salt in a wound and stirring things up that way. It's a sometimes a little lighthearted and sometimes, I suppose sometimes it could be seen as cruel, but just like, sometimes it helps people to grow, to be confronted. It doesn't always seem like trampling on them in a way that's harmful, judging from the big picture. I'm trying. It's a perverse way of trying to help, I think, so I guess I just need to judiciously step back from that impulse and try the way.

Anatolia: I would suggest for a time to transfer the mental image of pouring salt into the wound into pouring honey into the wound and see which gets better results. (Student: Yes, Thank you.) Do you need further clarification on this or is this fine for now?

Student: I think I have enough to work with for now. Thank you.

Student: Yes, Anatolia, this is D. What I've been experiencing over the past week, is the idea of surrendering myself, my small self with this drop of water. Surrendering that into the bigger, bigger self, or greater self of consciousness. And I've been watching how my mind works. And when my mind feels contracted or stressed or anxious about something, I tell myself to let that go and just surrender it to God, to who I am. And the more I do this, the more I am able to surrender, to feel this greater self that I am, that I truly am. And I find that if I allow myself to experience the small self, there's fear there and anxiety and I feel paralyzed. So I don't want to feel that anymore. I don't want to - that's not who I am. And I tell myself that this is not who I am. This is not how God sees me or Michael sees me. So I say to myself, just surrender, let it go. I take a breath and just let it go and re-align myself to the consciousness that is all around us and who I am. And it seem to be working, there is less stress and there's more, I feel more real, more authentic when I am that way. And I feel my faith and it is growing and deepening and expanding and my trust. I keep on hearing this word, this little phrase in my mind, "Trust in Me. Trust in Me." So that's where I'm at.

Anatolia: This is a good place to be would you not agree?

Student: Very much so! There is less tension; there is no tension. And I feel like as long as I stay in this place, which in reality is our natural place, then like you say all our needs, all my needs will be met. All circumstances and situations will be smoothed over and taken care of. Because, I've reached a point where my little me can't do anymore. So now it's time to dive into that ocean and be a part of that.

Anatolia: My own suggestion to your comment would be that when you experience these instances of fear to only acknowledge to the point that you know that they are fleeting and will soon be dissolved in the greater infinity of who you are as a son of the most loving and compassionate and upholding of Fathers. The tension within you that pulls you into this basic animal nature is still affecting you. And it will still affect you for some time to come and the elements of the animal nature still will tug at you and remind you that you still have this within you. But it is only there as a reminder that you are still in the process of becoming more fully human in your divine path.

If you allow this awareness to melt, as you say, in the stillness, you will find that the moments when this returns to your awareness grow farther and farther apart. And what then replaces within yourself through the workings of your Though Adjuster are the gleanings to show the world how joyful and centered it is to have a relationship with God. When you are in peace and joy, you know how attractive this is for other people to see. And so how could they not want to approach you, and how could you not want to share all of your love with them? The self-forgetfulness we advocate is of this nature, for it naturally prevails within your human mind to seek out that which is lacking in others and to fill it with a new whole sense of purpose and beauty. Allow these moments of fear to just melt away. They do not affect you, truly. They are just there to remind you that you are still becoming a true son of God, in thought, word, and deed.

Student: Thank you for that. And as you were speaking, the one thing that no one had mentioned in terms of self-forgetfulness is what you just said is, love. And how, when we are truly in the state of love, we forget. We do forget ourselves. Even if we are in a romantic relationship, we forget ourselves, we think of love and think of the other person. And on the grander scale, we think of helping others, with no thought of ourselves.

I understand what you mean about the fear and the animal nature. It kind of serves as a reminder of what we used to be and kind of prompts me to understand that I need to surrender more. Thank you for that.

Student: Anatolia, A little earlier, I was getting ready for this class and I sort of was hitting on some of these topics and I came up with the desire to ask a question about the up-stepping to the Adamic uplifting of our natures which tends to make us romantic and sentimental and tenderhearted, which is really great, but we lack the rugged self-control; and to me that translates to a knowledge that I lack the social skills to share this sort of divine enthusiasm, which I know is a gift.

And, maybe, earlier in life, it was a fear of death and a fear of worsening and a fear of apathy or a fear of defeat or fear of further betrayal after trust. I feel my problem now is the lack of skill. When our minds are uplifted with the Adamic biological uplifting, but we seem to get overwhelmed with the distractions of these superior and strong emotions which I wonder, if a comment that could be made? I would really like to know if there is a mansion world courtesy that we could learn on earth, the graciousness of Jesus that would make us less timid in sharing it with others?

Anatolia: My friend, you have a large, warm heart and it is natural for you to want to share the good news that you feel within yourself. The time is rapidly approaching when there will be many people who will have the ears and the minds to hear your words. There is a large upliftment on the horizon that speaks to the spiritual curiosity within the human heart. This has been blocked for millennia due to the Lucifer Rebellion and now Michael and Mother in their mercy ministry to their children are allowing a massive outpouring of spiritual hunger and curiosity to enfold the minds and hearts of their children of this world, and of the worlds in rebellion.

So you will have ample opportunity, my friend, to share these messages with your brothers and sisters. You will find yourself overwhelmed at some point in your life at all of the interest of what you speak. But I do understand your question and I wish to offer these words of council now. Jesus was the most gracious and charming of humans would you not agree? (Student: Without a doubt) And he always seemed to handle situations with poise and effortless ease. And this is a quality that you would like to now share with him. Is this not your hearts desire?

Student: Yes, it is. It's been coming up over and over again.

Anatolia: And so you only have to go to Him and say, "Master, I wish to learn from you. How did you know what to say? How did you know how to deal with this situation? And so, my friend, it becomes a matter of practice. Practice going to Him. Each time, before you speak say, "Not my words, but Yours, Jesus. You be my mouthpiece."

Now, I know this will take some time, but you have every opening within you to afford you this experience and to allow this to happen. And so for a time, it will be your words that will mingle with his until you find your own way and manner of speaking in this most gracious and endearing of ways. But, if this is something you want, then you must practice this many, many times until you feel that Michael is now stepping back and saying, "My son, you can speak for me. You have been well trained". Do you understand? (Student: Yes, I do, and I will do it.) Are there any other questions of this nature in your mind?

Student: I think just the idea of getting used to allowing the Thought Adjuster to talk for us. I'm not so used to thinking in terms of the Christ Michael and Mother Spirit. I'm beginning to see them as co-teachers, like in a classroom. And, I suppose it is a better utilization of the Spirit of Truth, especially in with the mind help of the Mother Spirit, that it's time to start taking advantage of this. Is this what you are implying?

Anatolia: It is an implication. However, you have in Jesus and Michael, one who has human experience. And would it not make sense in your own mind to go to the one who understands human nature so thoroughly that he was able to target what each person needed and said it in a way that was just perfect for them. Would you not want to learn of this individual? (Student: I sure would!) And so, in your human elder brother of Jesus, you have the one who perfected this. And so you, too, my friend have every opportunity to perfect this as well. He is available to each one of you. There is nothing that he will not teach you if you come to him in sincerity and say, "Master, teach me. Show me your way so that I can speak your words of love and grace." There is no greater level of instruction that will help you than to learn of Him. Did He not say, "Take my yoke upon yourselves, and learn from me?" And so what does this mean to you?

Student: To actually do things in practical steps. In light, easy steps, because the yoke is not too heavy and with taking advantage of that, and I know with the Spirit of Truth. I suppose this is the personality element of the Spirit of Truth that we are not quite, not quite humble enough to ask for, or hope for.

Anatolia: He is accessible to you through this circuit. Are there any other comments or questions before we conclude this evening?

Student: Yes, it's good to visit with you again, Anatolia! It is very nice too! I look forward to the one time you mentioned that sometime we might meet face to face. That would really be joyful.

Anatolia: As we all look forward to seeing you, our younger brothers and sisters standing with us in our large and growing family.

Student: You have such a reality that is so unimaginable to us. And so, it's good just to just to have your viewpoint and too, it exercises us to (only, anyway, I just speak for myself) to realize what you are.

Anatolia: Well, we certainly do try to whet your appetites, and I am glad to hear that we do that, to some degree!

Student: And, sometimes it's pure cotton candy for our souls. Thank you very much!

Anatolia: And, for us too! We have great joy in loving and serving you! Good evening.
